Random Redneck Moments of the Week- Week 9

1. I caught myself complaining about the yuppie kids at Cosmo (I am seriously too old for that place now).

2. I spent over an hour looking at fishing license regulations.

3. I found myself way too invested in the debate over pronouncing the word pecan.

Today I am linking up with High Five for Friday from Lauren Elizabeth!

1. The weather has been awesome and today it's raining! Yay! When it's always sunny, rainy days are exciting to us desert folks.

2. It is almost March which means another month until ACM time!!! I am way too excited about all the awesome upcoming shows in April.

3. It's my mom's birthday today. :-) We celebrated this week with a staycation at Caesar's Palace.

4. One of my best friends is coming to visit in May!!! Hurray!!!!!

5. I came in to work today to find a box of cakes and a bottle of wine. Not a bad way to start my work week, right? :-)

Throwback Thursday Vacation Edition- Week 7

Okay, how many of you have thought you didn't make a post, put everything together for it, and later found out you already posted about it? Yup. This girl. Right here.

Anyhow, since I did all the leg work, I'm posting them anyway. They're kind of appropriate for this section and since I'm reformatting a few things, what the hell. Besides, this way I can make more detailed posts.

Here are some photos from my second trip to Disneyland Hong Kong. I should probably post pictures from the first trip at some point but it will take some doing to find them.

After our first trip there, I did a ton of research and found out that the Crystal Lotus inside the Disneyland Hotel did a special Disney dim sum with themed foods. I love themed things! My mom and I booked a reservation and planned to spend the whole day at the parks since the MTR rides and transfers weren't worth just spending a few short hours.

We started with dim sum that day and it was AMAZING. Everything was delicious and almost too adorable to eat. There were red bean buns that looked like Duffy the Bear, chicken buns that looked like chicken little, pork buns shaped like the three little pigs, and veggie buns shaped like aliens (wait, what). Oh and some sticky thing shaped like Mickey. Such a fun experience.

Every visit to Disneyland Hong Kong has been interesting because the park keeps adding sections. This time there was the Toy Story themed land. Super adorable! I'm not big on rides but it was a lot of fun to walk around and see the giant toys. I only wish I had bought the slinky dog ear muffs. Those were too cute.

One of the things I love best here is that everyone loves Stitch. We watched the Stitch show our first time but it was in Cantonese. This time, we got to catch the English show. It was so much fun except Stitch sounded a little like he was on speed. Kinda weird. But still fun. And the shop filled with Stitch things is amazing.

We finished out the day with the parade, the show, and dinner at the Plaza Inn. This one is a little different from the Plaza Inns since it's got more of a Mulan theme. Pretty cool.

We will be back next time since they're still adding more lands!!!

I'm the Kinda Girl Link-Up!

Okay I have to jump on the band wagon here!

I'm the kinda girl who...

Likes dinner at a fancy restaurant and dinner at a food truck equally.

Likes to clean someone else's place more than my own.

Likes to plan everything. Bad habit.

Is always generous and giving to the people I love.

Loves crafts and scrapbooking.

Also loves video games.

Loves Chanel and Roxy equally.

Takes pictures of everything.

Would rather do something alone than not do it because I couldn't find someone to go with me.

I have no clever or useful title for this post.

Which seems almost appropriately like the title of an emo song.

I was going through my Facebook photos and found an old album entitled 2007.

2007 was actually a really really cool year. If you'll recall my sad post about turning 21, I mentioned that while the birthday wasn't spectacular, the year that followed was pretty cool. That year was 2007. Some notes and highlights (or low points) of 2007:

1. I was like a serious scene kid. Kinda weird now that I think about it.
2. I got my first tattoo. And the next fourteen after that.
3. I did an internship at one of the award show gifting suites. Pretty interesting to see how those celebs get all those free things and I got a swag bag of my own too!
4. I got to go to Rolling Stone magazine's 40th anniversary party which oddly enough, was a Kanye West concert. Never have I ever thought I would be in the pit at a Kanye West concert.
5. I got to see actual parts of the 2007 VMAs being filmed at the Palms Casino and ran into a few cool people along the way.
6. My favorite bands were Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy. I also really loved Evanescence.
7. I was really into hockey (even had a season pass for the Las Vegas Wranglers).
8. And everything Pirates of the Caribbean.
9. I graduated from college.
10. I knew everyone from the cast of Thunder From Down Under (still friends with a couple of the ones that live in town).
11. My fave hangout was the Playboy Club.
12. My graduation party involved a lot of goofy lap dances (including one by a large man with TACO tattooed on his belly).
13. It was my personal mission to go to EVERY SINGLE nightclub on the Strip.
14. And the pool clubs too. Including Rehab. Ew.
15. A TV star from a popular show that is still running (IE not Jesse Spencer lol) gave me his number. We texted until I found out he had a girlfriend. Every time this show comes on, I change the channel.

And now for my photo montage of 2007!!!!

Hello Hollywood Day 1

Now Amanda and I love our budget trips and always have a blast but there's something fun about splurging on something a little fancier.

I did go this year so far, I hadn't gone out to eat much or spent a lot of money so saving up for this splurge wasn't too difficult. We wanted to do another girly spa getaway and I found a great deal on Travelzoo for a spa day at the Beverly Hilton. Score!!! Since we were spa-ing (Is that a word? Who cares, it is now) at the location of the annual Golden Globes, I decided to be extra geeky and plan our trip around other celebrity hotspots in town. If the rich and famous love it, it can't suck, right?

We left bright and early on a Wednesday morning and did our usual Starbucks stop first. The drive was pretty easy since I've done it a million times. I had always loved West Hollywood and wanted to stay in the area but never had the time or the money. We found a pretty cool deal for the Mondrian since I had a free upgrade and used some points from Expedia (all that traveling pays off).

Our first stop was the Urth Caffe. I ordered a quiche, a fun green drink called the Monkey Granita, and the matcha tiramisu. OMG so delicious. Nice little spot; crazy busy. We sat outside since it was warm and sunny and a lot of fun people watching.

After this we hit the spa for facials, massages, and a lot of sitting around. We even got to enjoy the infamous pool that Angelina Jolie jumped into.

Our hotel was adorable. Great view, great room, and great toiletries (I love fancy toiletries lol).

We had dinner at Katana which was right across the street on Sunset Blvd. We decided to go all out and get the Izakaya Feast and we weren't disappointed. Awesome service (aspiring actor of course), and the food was delicious. About five or six small courses of amazing.

Stay tuned for part two!!!

Linking up with Karly Kim and Glossy Blonde today!!!

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite breakfast food?
I love grits with hot sausage and eggs. My fave breakfast ever. Oh and a biscuit.

2. What is the best way to spend a free day?
I like to watch TV, knit, and play WoW. Or if a friend has the same day, I like to drive somewhere interesting. Sometimes LA for the day, sometimes a random ghost town.

3. If you had an airline ticket to anywhere in the world....where would you go and why?
I'd probably go to London assuming I have just the one ticket. It's one of my favorite cities in the world but since my other is Hong Kong and I don't speak Cantonese, I'd feel more comfortable in London since everyone speaks English and I know my way around. :-)

4. You can only leave the house with one thing...what is it?
My phone.

5. How do you take your coffee?
Not a huge fan of coffee! If I'm drinking it then it's gonna have a lot of cream and sugar. lol I prefer tea- English or Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey.

Throwback Thursday Vacation Edition- Week 6

So I know I missed a few weeks of my Throwback Thursdays and that really annoys me. I guess this counts as week six so here goes!

This picture is totally crooked. lol

Here is one of the few photos from my Mediterranean trip that I'm actually in. Yay! It's me and momma at the Parthenon. It was super crowded and super hot and we did so much walking that I was exhausted. But this pic makes it totally worth it. :-)

Thompson Square

So I absolutely love Thompson Square. They are amazing and just the sweetest people ever. When I saw the billboard for their show at the Silverton, I knew I had to go and I got extra lucky and scored meet and greet passes so I didn't have to pay extra for VIP! W00t!!!!

Since I had two passes, I decided to bring along my co-worker since she's a big country fan too and she hasn't gotten to meet a whole lot of artists. We grabbed a quick dinner at Twin Creeks inside Silverton first since they have a seriously KILLER happy hour and then headed into the Veil Pavilion for the show.

They organized the meet and greet really well and it turns out they had extra reserved seating for the meet and greet fans who didn't purchase a seat upgrade. Fourth row! Score!!!

I've seen Thompson Square three times before and it was always either as an opener or as part of a larger event with a few other performers. This was the first time I got to see them perform a full set as a headliner and it was so much fun.

Lady Antebellum & Salt Lake City 2014

Hello Blog World!

So I'm back, sort of. I realize now that my queue kind of ran out at some point and it's been so long since I've used Blogger at home that I had to log in again. Oops!

Anyhow, last month I made an overnight trip to Salt Lake yet again for an awesome show. I've really come to LOVE Salt Lake City. The people are friendly, the city is clean and much safer than Vegas, and I've always had such an awesome time.

My first stop was the Nauvoo Cafe in Temple Square. I really loved the Lion House Pantry and when I found out they had several other restaurants in the group, I wanted to check them all out. The food is reasonably priced and pretty yummy. I got breakfast (quiche and a drink) for under $5. Score! I stopped at Lion House after this and picked up a few things for the evening; I'm always hungry after a show and I knew few things would be open when I got back.

The hotel let me check in early (I got a really great deal on Expedia for the Hilton) so I hung out in the room a while (too tired and chilly to really do a lot of exploring) until it was time for tea. You guys know how much I love my afternoon tea!

I found a wonderful tea at the Grand America Hotel. Beautiful hotel and such an amazing tea set-up. I stopped by La Bonne Vie for macarons for momma since I got there early and then settled into my reserved seat by the fireplace for tea. I've had tea at some amazing places and this one was pretty fantastic! Especially considering the price ($20 whaaaaaat). In fact, there was so much food, I took a to go box home.

I didn't want to worry about catching cabs or trains or buses so I walked everywhere. It wasn't freezing, about in the 30s, so it was nice. There was still snow on the ground too. I brought my fabulous Lady A mittens just for the occasion. :-)

After a shower and some time to sit around and read, it was time for the show. I walked over to Energy Solutions Arena to pick up all my tickets and packages. I had purchased the VIP package for Lady Antebellum because I didn't want to take my chances and not have the best time. A week prior, I had been notified that I also won tickets for the Jana Kramer meet and greet. Pretty cool!

I can't remember every detail of the night because it was just so amazing. Instead, I'll list the highlights:

1. Meeting Lady Antebellum- they were just so nice and down to earth.
2. Private acoustic set and Q&A before the show- Hilary sang an N Sync song and I argued with Charles about who sings Eye of the Tiger.
3. My band gift- A Lady A ping pong paddle and matching ball. Guess I'll have to take up ping pong!

The next day I slept in a bit and then headed to The Garden in Temple Square for lunch with an awesome view of the Temple before heading home. Another awesome Salt Lake visit; I'm sure I'll be back again soon!

I linked this up here :-)
