Frankie Ballard & NFR

I know, I know.

I keep waxing poetic about the rodeo.

Last month, I dragged Corey to the SLS for Frankie Ballard because a) Frankie Ballard puts on a great show and b) two for one tickets. Seriously, two for one tickets.

The Foundry was actually insanely empty. It was kind of a bummer but there were so many huge shows in town that weekend (Tim McGraw and George Strait) that people had other priorities.

Even so, the show was a lot of fun. I don't drag Corey to too many country shows because he really doesn't like country music but he actually had a pretty good time.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the rodeo decor at the SLS too.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Good morning and Gung Hay Fat Choi!

My family isn't super traditional but we do keep a few Chinese customs here and there. For instance, we always celebrate Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Rooster which is my mom's year (she is turning 60 this year).

Corey and I went over to Aria last night to check out their decorations. I had seem some pictures on Instagram that looked really pretty so I wanted to check them out for myself! They had a few different large set-ups and a whole bunch of lanterns and coins all over the casino.

There was a really big rooster over by the Asian restaurants.

Red lanterns everywhere.

And this gorgeous dragon display by the lobby.

The Sanxing.

And these super cute and colorful imperial lions.

Tonight we are eating some traditional Chinese vegetarian dishes (I loaded up on meat yesterday) and candy from the Lazy Susan (which is actually the cute Chinese lucky candy this year instead of whatever random Valentine's Day candy is at WalMart cuz we planned ahead).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Solo Birthday Part 02

Hey guys!

So onto the second half of my little birthday celebration. Lynn and I literally walked out of the Cam gathering and right into our next adventure. We had both gotten VIP passes for Kelsea Ballerini so we were super excited for the private acoustic set.

No joke, Kelsea is seriously adorable. Just the sweetest person ever. There were less than 50 of us in the showroom for the private set so there wasn't anywhere to stand that didn't have a great view. She sang Peter Pan and her unreleased song High School and answered a ton of questions and just chatted with everyone for a while before taking pictures with everyone. She was wearing the Stuart Weitzman boots I've been coveting so we had a very geeky girly moment complimenting each other's footwear (she liked my blue glitter shoelaces with my Navy shimmer Keds and Cam had also squealed when she saw all the sparkly laces). When we left we had some pretty adorable exclusive goodies and I still hit the merch stand for some fun pieces.

The show started shortly after and I have to say, it was a really great show. I had seen Kelsea play the year before and you could tell she was still getting used to the crowds. This time she really knew how to hold the attention of everyone in the room.

Overall, such a fun night and a great way to celebrate my birthday!

Monday Must Haves

Ugh, Monday, am I right?

Well, I can't complain too much because Mondays are my Fridays right now so....

Anyway, welcome to a new Monday Must Haves!

I have a bunch of subscription boxes that I've had for years and a few new ones and one that's really standing out right now is Splendies. Most people have sock eating monsters in their closets and I have one that eats all my favorite panties. No joke, I can't count the number of times I've taken advantage of Victoria's Secret's 7 for $27 deals only to not find any of my underwear. It's really sad. And super awkward.

Anyway, I had looked into some similar subscriptions before but they were all either overpriced (like $15-20 for one fancy pair) and frankly, I don't need something pricey that I'm just going to lose. Splendies are really reasonably priced and you get three pairs a month. They also have a wider size selection and allow you to pick the type of underwear you want (so you don't end up with a bunch of panties you're not going to wear). I'm on my third month and I have to say, I really really really love it. Everything is good quality, super cute, and very comfortable. And now I'm not running out constantly. Yay! If you're having the same problem or just love getting cute new things every single month, check out Splendies!

This post was not endorsed in any way at all, I just love sharing my new faves with you guys!

New Things

Hello hello!

So there have been some big changes here. I'll share those at some point but with things in the air right now, I'm keeping some stuff pretty quiet for now.

I've made some changes to the blog look. I've really been into new colors and these graphics from Kristin Cronin-Barrow really make me happy! If any of you scrapbook, check out her work at Sweet Shoppe Designs; all of her kits are amazing!

In other news, the weather here in Vegas has been crazy lately. Raining for a couple days at a time and then some sun and gorgeous clouds the next. I can't keep up!

Vegas is finally getting a Chick-Fil-A this coming week and as sad as it sounds I am SO EXCITED! I'm always happy to have little bits of the south around cuz it makes Vegas feel a little more like home. Sadly enough, I still haven't made it to our Cracker Barrels because apparently the waits are outrageous. I have to say, that's pretty weird to me because I've never had to wait at Cracker Barrel.

Have a great week, everyone!

Solo Birthday Part 01

So as always, NFR was in town last month and of course, it's my favorite time of the year. In addition to rodeo, it's my birthday! There are always so many great shows during or before my birthday and this year was no exception. Unfortunately, I didn't get out too much because I was so busy with work; however, I made sure to book at least one really fun night out for myself.

I don't have that many friends who are super crazy about country music so I've gotten used to going to shows alone. Besides, I'd rather go alone than miss out! The Orleans was hosting Cam and Kelsea Ballerini so I bought myself a couple really great VIP packages so I could celebrate my birthday in style. It was such a good idea!

The first half of the evening was Cam. I picked up my pass and actually ran into a friend from out of town who often does VIP events too so I wasn't completely alone!

We shuffled into the theatre early for a quick meet and greet with Cam. She was absolutely the sweetest! She and Kelsea are both nominated for Grammy awards but are just some of the nicest most humble women I've ever met (the same goes for Maren Morris who I got to meet in October). She was in a giraffe onesie and told us all how she had her entire crew and band dress up in onesies since it was the last show of her Burning House Tour!

We all sat down for a little Q&A session and got some fun insight into her favorite songs and her writing process. It was a super intimate little gathering and a lot of fun.

Cam put on such a wonderful show. Her set is gorgeous and super dreamy and she has such a beautiful voice. She and her band even changed back into onesies for most of the show! Too cute!

Vegas Staycation & Carrie Underwood

Hey blog world!

So it's been a little while since I posted and that's because things have been crazy here. Lots of changes and with the holidays it was just easier to hold off on posting rather than just ramble nonsense for a month.

After Thanksgiving my mom and I got to have a little vegas staycation. We wanted to see Carrie Underwood and since room rates are pretty good between Thanksgiving and NFR, we decided to take advantage of the affordable prices and make a night of it.

We got a room at the Monte Carlo for pretty cheap and it is literally right next to the arena. We grabbed lunch at 800 Degrees, one of my favorite spots for custom pizzas (I always get the Bianca with prosciutto, truffle cheese, and arugula).

We also wandered over to Bellagio to grab some goodies at Jean-Philippe Patisserie. They always have the coolest chocolate statues and of course, since it was around the holidays, there was a giant chocolate Santa! There was also a gorgeous tree right outside the Monte Carlo that made everything so festive!

It had been a rough work week even though it was short because I had been sick almost all month (my health has been horrible this fall/winter for my chronic disorders) so I wanted nothing more than a nap. I do love hotel bed naps!

One of the things I dislike about Vegas is the unpredictable winter and fall months. I never know exactly what temperatures to expect, especially in November. Sometimes it's perfect sweater weather. Oh no. This time it was literally freezing because the wind was crazy. The walk across the street was pretty frigid and it was short so I can't imagine what we would have done if we had stayed further from the venue. We had a quick dinner at Bruxie before the show. There was Nashville hot chicken and while it was good (and very hot), it's just not Hattie B's. The créme brûlée dessert waffle was delicious though.

The show was wonderful. We had a really great time and even though we had seats in the upper tier, the view was amazing. The sound quality at T-Mobile Arena is really spectacular. I only wasn't familiar with a couple of the newer songs from her latest album but she played all the best tracks and it was a great time. My mom isn't a big country fan but even she had an amazing time.

One of the best parts of our stay was the view from the room. While the hot afternoon sun kind of baked us, the sunset was perfect and we had a great view of the arena and the Christmas tree and ice skating rink below. So pretty and festive!

Sorry for the window fuzz, it wasn't the cleanest window but the sunset was beautiful!
