Fun Things on Friday

Happy Friday!

Last month I posted all about my foodie adventure to Momofuku and Milkbar at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. We ate some amazing ramen and pork belly buns and then had some pretty delicious ice cream for dessert. I also brought home goodies from Milkbar because I don't get down to the Strip much and I wanted to stock up!

I'm not going to lie, the cereal milk sat in my fridge for a bit because honestly... I didn't really know what to do with it. I wanted to do it some justice and not just drink it or eat it with actual cereal. So it sat there while I debated my options.

In the end, I decided on a Cereal Milk Milk Shake. Corey and I got some vanilla ice cream, vodka, a little bit of regular milk to thin it out, and some random fruity colorful cereal (I think we got something called Dyno Bites). Here is what we did:

Cereal Milk Milk Shake

1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream
1 Bottle Cereal Milk
2 Shots Vodka
1 Cup Fruity Cereal

We blended all of the ingredients first except for the cereal. After all the liquids and ice cream are blended, add in a little cereal at a time (set some aside for garnish because Instagram).

That's literally it. You can't really see them in the photo but there are rainbow colored flecks throughout the whole milkshake; it was so cute!

Since most people aren't lucky enough to actually have a Milkbar in their city, I found the recipe for Cereal Milk on Serious Eats. Also, I highly recommend the Milkbar cookbook by Christina Tossi because it is an awesome read!

Throwback Thursdays

Hey guys!

Welcome to the last ACM Edition of Throwback Thursdays. Since the awards are this weekend (whaaaaat that happened so fast), I'm sharing two years worth of highlights today.

2014

This was the year the ACM weekend starting to get a lot bigger. This was the first year I went to the Guitar Pull that leads into ACM weekend.

The Party For A Cause festival was held behind the High Roller and The Linq this year in a huge parking lot. The mainstage was much larger and the headliners were bigger acts like Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban. It was still really organized and a lot of fun. We also got to meet some really great acts like Cassadee Pope, Love and Theft, Brett Eldredge, and Tyler Farr.

I even won ACM rehearsal passes from RAM! I got to see Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, and Jason Aldean rehearse their sets from the awards. It was really cool getting a behind the scenes look.

The Fan Jam was one of the best parts for me since it was hosted by Florida Georgia Line and included an FGL show following the awards.

The closing ACM Presents event was a Salute to the Troops and was a really amazing show.

2016

We missed 2015 since the awards were held in Dallas. Boo!

I'm not gonna lie, 2016 was a pretty quiet year for me in terms of the weekend. The Party For a Cause was held at the new festival grounds and I didn't love it. It was crowded, hot, and kind of insane.

I still got to see some great shows and the last day was my favorite since it included Old Dominion (I've been a fan since they were playing for super small crowds and singing my requests for me), Brett Eldredge, and Sam Hunt.

I also caught the official after party show.

This year I'm actually away for most of the weekend since it's starting early this year. I am; however, going to get to see Florida Georgia Line so really, that makes up for an entire weekend of craziness!

Tuesday Travel Guide: Denver- Where to Eat

Good Morning!

Today I'm sharing my favorite part of the travel guide- food!

Even for a short visit, we got to sample some pretty delicious findings in Denver. Unfortunately we didn't make it to some of the other places we wanted to go but I've included them in the list anyway for next time!

We really liked Union Station. It's a beautiful train station with lots of good food and drinks and so many places to sit and relax while you wait for your train. When we arrived Friday morning, the place was packed. Because we'd had a 6AM flight, I desperately needed caffeine when we arrived in Denver. Pig Train Coffee is right at the station and provided lots of great coffee options and some stellar pastries. The chocolate croissant was delicious, they really don't skimp on the chocolate!
That's always been something of a pet peeve of mine.

Milkbox Ice Creamery is also at Union Station and they have some really yummy flavors. I had a banana chip sundae and it was so good. The prices are also much more reasonable than a lot of other downtown areas. The storefront is super cute with all kinds of adorable souvenirs and they even sell pints and ice cream sandwiches! The alcohol milkshakes looked really good too!

The Nickel was actually very conveniently located inside the hotel where we were staying, Hotel Teatro. When the restaurant wasn't open yet, The Study served their menu as well.

We had a late lunch at Rhein Haus on our last day. We love German food and this place had reasonable prices and a good selection. The food was delicious and they had a super cute bocce ball court right by the bar. The layout was fun and the service was great too!

We had dinner our first night at Euclid Hall. We were originally planning to go somewhere else but when we got to the other place it was under construction (and it hadn't been mentioned on their website boo). I had looked into Euclid Hall as well and since it was a close walk from where we were, it won. The food was pretty good and had a really fun balance of flavors.

We grabbed tea at Brown Palace as well. We love afternoon tea! The setting was really nice with a pianist playing some fun pieces in addition to the classical ones. The tea platter had a good selection and everything was nice and fresh.

Places We Didn't Make It To This Time
We really wanted to go to Sam's No. 3, especially when we saw how crowded it was! The cops were inside eating and you know cops know good food! We like to follow Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and this places was featured so I'll make sure to check it out next time!

I love a good hot dog and the menu at Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs looked awesome! Seriously- rattlesnake and reindeer are on the menu! Definitely bookmarked for next time!

Tamayo looked like a really fun spot and their menu (especially for happy hour) looked delicious.

I'd seen that Little Owl Coffee is supposed to be one of the best coffee shops in America. Sad I missed it this time!
