Canada 2015- Part 01

Hello hello!

So it's definitely time for my Canada trip posts. If you've been following me for a while, you might be familiar with the random story of how I met my beloved Canadian friends. Long story short- I like to say I crashed their bachelorette party and they like to say they picked me up in an elevator. Either way, five years later, I love them and try to visit them at least every couple years.

The last visit (which can be read on Vancouver 01, 02, 03, and 04) was mostly spent in downtown Vancouver doing all kinds of fun touristy things. This trip, I flew into Bellingham, Washington (so much cheaper) and my friend Nykky picked me up and carted me over the border to her hometown of Langley, where all my girlfriends live.

Sidenote- Nykky has the coolest apartment I've ever seen. Like beautiful. I told her (multiple times) that it looked like a Pinterest board and felt like a boutique hotel. All that was missing were the chocolates on the pillows (damnit Nykky jk).

It was late afternoon when we settled in and oddly enough, one of the first things we did was hit up the dollar store. Sounds weird I know but damn. I found all kinds of cool random goodies and since Canada day was about a month away, I found a ton of Canada miscellaneous goods. Cheap souvenir shopping!!! I had promised the boyfriend a refrigerator magnet (because his refrigerator is sad and lonely) and for the cost of a regular magnet at a tourist trap I got mugs, shot glasses, a moose hat, and a magnet. Souvenir shopping, all done! That was fast.

After shopping, we headed over to one of the cutest little Mexican restaurants I've seen in a while to meet up with my friend Ashley and her cousin Lindsey. Our friend Tara was going to meet us there and right around when we were going to order we got a call from her asking where we were. It turns out she was at the wrong Mexican restaurant. Kind of awesome.

Stay tuned for Part 02 which was so creepy and kind of rediculous that I feel it needs its own post.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack

Hello Blog World!!!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! I know I sure am!

It's been a super busy 2015 and I cannot believe it's already June. I feel like I just got back from San Francisco last month and clearly that was almost four months ago.

So far 2015 has been pretty amazing and all kinds of weird and unexpected. I've done things that were awesome and a few things that I'm really not proud of, to be honest...

Since the year is almost half over, here is what's to come the next six months:

Chris Young (TONIGHT!!!)

Little Big Town

Yosemite Camping Trip

Bali/Singapore (Eeeeeeeeek so excited)

Route 91 Harvest Festival (Not sure anything could beat meeting Miranda last year)

FGL Cruise Round 2

I'm turning 30... Yikes.

I'm lining up posts in the queue right now so like it or not, you'll be seeing more of me!!!

Old Dominion @ Santa Fe Station

Last year, I discovered one of my favorite bands, Old Dominion, totally by accident.

It's been six months since that first show and I've now seen them about half a dozen times.

Early this month, they did a free show at the Chrome Showroom inside Santa Fe Station. Since the boys are about to embark on their tour this summer with Kenny Chesney, I figure, this might be one of the last times I get to see them in such a small (and free) setting.

The show was amazing, the guys played a whole bunch of new songs, and it was probably one of the best Old Dominion shows I've ever been to period. I had tweeted the guys in advance about playing Say You Do, a song Matt and Trevor had written that was recorded by Dierks Bentley. Matt made a point to play it multiple times in December when I had asked and it just hit number one on the Billboard Country Charts!

The after party was a blast and I caught up with Matt for a little bit on the way back to the tour bus.

If you haven't seen or heard these guys, check them out!

The Cadillac Three @ Gilley's

It's officially concert season!

Well, for me anyway.

One of our local stations does a lot of Listener Appreciation concerts throughout the year. They're always free, and they're always amazing. Past events included Cole Swindell and Kacey Musgraves. This one was one of my faves- The Cadillac Three.

If you follow my blog, you know I'm a huge fan, especially after the FGL Cruise last fall. The guys always put on an amazing and energetic show and this was no exception. It's always extra fun when it's a band I've met several times and it definitely has its perks- Jaren always does a drum solo during Days of Gold and after seeing the girl next to me snatch the drumstick Neil had thrown me, he handed me his own.

After the show, I chatted with Kelby and Jaren for a while. The guys are doing a ton of press and have been traveling like crazy but they always make time to meet the crowd and chat. Their new single White Lightning just dropped last month so if you haven't heard them, go check it out!!!
