Even when they lose, I'm still a Bulldogs fan...

A little Thomas Rhett anyone?

Amazing show the other night. Totally missed the opener while I was chatting with Thomas but so worth it. He puts on a really great show. And who doesn't love a man who compliments their outfit (to be fair I was wearing Braves and Bulldogs gear)??

Cannot wait for his next record; he played some of the new tracks and they're awesome. Thomas had posted a pic on Instagram of himself on a bike at Stagecoach and joked that he was riding it to Vegas. I told him we'd have had to wait a week to see him and he said it probably would have taken 35 hours to ride it here. We even chatted about our upcoming trip to the Bahamas (that sounds weird).

Here are my pics from the night!

SFO Part 6

Last day in the Bay, so sad!

We were up pretty early and ready to go. The day ended up being mostly about food, oddly enough. I made my obligatory mecca to Andersen Bakery for my beloved strawberry danish (of which I bought like six) and Minamoto Kitchoan to get goodies for mom's birthday. We had breakfast at the Boudin down the street (chili cheese eggs in a bread bowl, how awesome is that). We wandered Union Square a bit and grabbed a snack at Golden Gate Grill.

One last post for tea time before we headed home!

SFO Part 5

After our adventures on the bus, we were exhausted. Melissa works graveyard typically so she wasn't used to being awake during normal non vampire hours. We went back to the hotel and chilled (I usually don't like to chill at the hotel but we had already done like EVERYTHING we had planned) for a couple hours and then headed out for dessert at Candybar. Such an awesome dessert place with cool drinks, delicious desserts, and hey board games! Who doesn't like the idea of a fancy schmancy ice cream sandwich (macarons on the outside, whaaaat) while playing Battleship???

After the delightful dessert... we were still hungry. And for bar food. Luckily we had spotted a cute little Irish pub behind the hotel down a scary alley filled with Dumpsters. Score! After a few greasy cheesy items later, we were settled for the night.

Sunday Social

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?
After a few days in New York watching cab drivers almost kill me every way possible, I'm surprisingly quiet on the road rage front. Maybe people honking when they want you to go and it's not safe for you to go. That really grinds my gears.

2. What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?
I don't really have any. I'm not a huge fan of blogs that look too overly "done up" I guess because I feel like it takes the organic feeling out of a blog and makes it look more like a magazine but there are a few of those blogs I really like so I dunno.

3. What is your biggest shopping pet peeve?
Okay, when traveling, I like to avoid the stores I can go to back home UNLESS they have region specific items (like Roxy and Victoria's Secret have some cute souvenir shirts in other big cities) OR you're looking for something specific. I don't think going to a store where I would buy what I buy back home is a vacation experience. I like to explore the local shops.

4. What is your biggest general pet peeve?
I hate when people act like they're listening but aren't paying attention and make you repeat things five times because they couldn't bother to listen. If you're deaf I understand but if you're not being respectful enough to pay attention (especially if it's a coworker), then figure it out yourself.

5. What is your most irrational fear?
I'm going to be snooty enough to say my fears are not irrational. j/k They're all so terrifying to me I can't tell which are rational and which aren't. That said, penguins are evil. You've been warned.

SFO Part 4

Holy crap!

So much has happened since my trip to San Francisco that I totally spaced on the rest of the post! Weird!!!

On our second day, we did one of my beloved Hop On Hop Off tour buses. I cannot rave about these enough. So convenient and things look different when you're on a top deck. They just do. Big Bus is my fave tour company but a lot of big cities have smaller companies with competitive pricing so just pick what works for you and make sure to look at the route map first! Oh and if you can, take advantage of the extras. A lot of them offer walking tours or comp bike rentals.

We didn't stop too much; we went to the first viewing point for the Golden Gate Bridge (after going over it) and then stopped again at the Palace of Fine Arts. Melissa's only requirements for this trip were the Golden Gate Bridge and Chinatown. We got a great view from the boat the day before so this was a completely different experience. I am so glad we stopped at the Palace of Fine Arts. I love this building; it's so beautiful and I've never gotten to stop and see it and walk around. This was nice and the weather was great so it was just the perfect day to wander.

On a completely unrelated note, I have been horribly remiss about loading my pics off my memory card and actually doing anything with them. Note to self- do that tomorrow.

ACM Weekend Day 5

ACM Weekend doesn't finish with the awards.

Every year, there's a big event the day after the awards. It's usually a tribute to an artist or a big collaboration.

This year they set up an amazing event- ACM Present's- An All-Star Salute to the Troops. Some of the biggest and best country stars performed for this event in collaboration with some amazingly talented members of our military. Such an awesome event!

Here are a few photos from the night; be sure to watch the special on May 20 on CBS!

ACM Weekend Day 4- The Awards!

Awards show time!!!

I love the ACMs. They're my fave award show. I've gotten to do Fan Jam two years in a row and it is a blast. Really crowded but so much fun.

A few things to know about Fan Jam if you ever go:
1. Be punctual. They sometimes WILL lock you out if you are not there by showtime.
2. Unlike a concert, these shows start ON TIME. No extra waiting!
3. That said, get there EARLY to line-up if it's standing room. We usually get there at least two hours prior to showtime since we're never sure when they'll open the doors.
4. Commercial breaks are fun. They do giveaways and introduce new artists or have small performances.
5. The host artist does at least one performance during the awards and then a full length show AFTER the awards so don't leave when Entertainer of the Year is given out!
6. The award hosts (yay Bluke!!!) almost always make at least one appearance at Fan Jam.
7. Best New Artist is awarded AT Fan Jam and the nominees perform from Fan Jam as well.

This year we got to see FGL, Kip Moore, Justin Moore, Brett Eldredge, Rascal Flatts, and a special guest performance from Luke Bryan with FGL all AT Fan Jam. So much fun and we had great spots. After the awards, I moved up to a seat since there was a stampede for the FGL show (seriously, I've seen them nine times at this point, I don't have to be in the pit lol). Great view.
