Blogtober Day 12

Helene in Between

Day 12. Best advice you've been given-

It sounds silly, but one of the best pieces I've received (at least lately) is my good friend Michelle in terms of dating- Collect then select.

No joke, I have always been a serial monogamist. Going into the dating game, I had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully I didn't start up with the first guy I went out with because that was a disaster.

It's amazing how guys can date around, be vague about plans, and refuse to commit but girls can't. I went out with a guy I thought I really liked and it turns out, there was no chemistry. I'm a nice girl. I will never blow someone off or purposely be rude. I was trying to distance myself and apparently my failure to nail down a second date or tell him I liked him was "purposely vague". I'm sorry for purposely trying to not be a bitch. I do think that one date (especially coffee) does not constitute a relationship and does not mean I'm obligated to commit to a single thing. After getting kind of bitched out, I'm a little glad things never went further than coffee.

Now I've met someone great who I really really like. I don't feel like I need to rush things or take things super slow. I'm comfortable with it which has never really happened before. I'm so glad I had the weird experiences I did because if I hadn't collected a few, I wouldn't have known what to look for and what I didn't want.

  1. I like this way of thinking. It is definitely a smarter way of looking at dating.
